a nude way of looking at it...

ahhh... neutrals. what's not to love? i'm the kind of girl that picks up something off the rack and thinks: "hmm... i wonder if this comes in gray?" it's bad, i know, because half my closet is filled with shades ranging from heather gray to charcoal, and i'm still not tired of it in the least! i guess it has something to do with my comfort zone: what DOESN'T go with gray?!

not to fret; i HAVE been choosing other colors to aid in doing away with this addiction. i bought a knit hat and scarf in varying shades of forest green, as well as this cropped nude sweatshirt that i obsessed over for a couple of weeks b4 I finally bought it...

Knit trapper hat from Nordstrom Rack, Nude cropped sweater and nude tank from Lord & Taylor, Necklace from Urban Outfitters, Skinny jeans from Hollister, Military boots from Steve Madden

Swooning Over Sweaters

As of late, I've been obsessed with dolman-sleeved sweaters. I have one super-soft charcoal one, one swingy, pale pink one from H&M, and I just picked up a cream-colored one with snaps that go up the back and along the ribbed cuffs :)

I love how you can wear them just about anywhere and dress them up or down with skinny jeans or skirts. Can't get enough of this cozy-looking one I found on BCBG's site... My closet is crying out for one!

My Obsession...

If you know me, you know I have a very intense key fetish. There's something about the notion that a key opens the lock to SOMEthing SOMEwhere, that has always intrigued me. Even the small, decorative keys that are lying around in my room, waiting to be attached to a random piece of jewelry might be able to open a teeny tiny doll's itsy bitsy jewelry box somewhere! Ok, maybe that is a bit of a stretch, but a girl can dream!

An Unimagined Experience

SOOOOOOOO... Guess who works at one of the greatest clothing stores in the world?! I do, that's who! Lol, I just started at Anthropologie this Tuesday (I will be transferring to the brand new Anthropologie Accessories store when it opens on October 29th), and I have ALREADY spent a little at my store, despite the fact that I haven't even received my first check yet! I fell in love with a dress I have been eyeing all summer, and since there was an Employee Appreciation promo going on with sale on top of sale prices, I couldn't resist! The dress is white *winces* but I'm still hoping to get a leeeeetle bit of wear out of it before it gets too cold if I find the right cardigan and pair it with my cowgirl or equestrian boots...

And the earrings! I literally have been pining for these adorable crystal flower studs for MONTHS but couldnt bring myself to cough up the cash until I found them hiding behind some other earrings on sale ;)

In other words, my fall wardrobe will be SPECTACULAR, (as will be the Christmas presents of the girlies in my life!)

Bag Fetish

You know how I am about bags. And ohmyjeez... I found another one to love. Well, actually 2 :D One of em I've had my eye on for a couple months, and the other I discovered today on the Bloomy's website. I am at a loss for words. I'm all about the medium-sized purse which dangles cavalierly off my arm as I flit to and fro around the city, and these are both perfect for doing just that...

I present, my long-time love, M by MJ's "Classic Q Petite Drawstringy Leather Tote"

And the newbie, M by MJ's "Totally Turnlock Lil Shifty Calfskin Satchel"

Oh, how I covet them so...

To the Mills!

My Mom coaxed me into going shopping with her to Potomac Mills today... Bad news bears! I couldn't resist a few of the outlet stores, and to make matter worse, we go there like twice a year (no, seriously) so I HAD to buy a couple things or forever hold my peace! I snagged an adorable tee that I saw at BCBG a few months ago for $29; it's oversized and I can wear it off the shoulder and/or with a belt. It goes with my blog AND my Twitter name! lol. I also bought the LAST Coach Poppy Wristlet they had there for less than half the original price! I managed to only spend about $60 there because of budget limitations and the fact that we were only there for about 3 hours... can you imagine if I'd had more time and money?!

real jobs :D

I can't tell you how many times I've heard questions/comments that say something to this effect: "When are you getting a real job?"

As in, "Retail is not a real job. It's simple, a caveman could do it, they pay minimum wage, you don't wear a suit, etc. etc. ETCETERA..."

*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh....*

Thanks for your opinion, Snooty McSnootypants. For your information, a "real" job is any job that pays, esp if Uncle Sam takes a bite out of your paycheck. And though I usually try to avoid office jobs like the plague (the thought of sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day in stuffy dress clothes, trying to stay awake and look busy makes me squirm) I am even looking for THOSE kind of jobs at this point.

The truth is, as much as I love being friendly to people who think they own me and straightening store displays for customers that repeatedly mess them up again, I'm actually kind of ready to move on. Don't get me wrong, I have had a long and healthy love of retail work, but I think the main things I liked about those jobs were my fellow employees and the discount. Is that bad? I guess it kind of is...

Yum yum yum... more M by MJ!

Sooooooo as you all know (I say "all" as if a lot of people are reading this, lol) I am going to Miami in a mere month :)

Thus, it was more than necessary to make sure I had a fabulous carry-on bag, because a.) I don't travel much and b.) it's flippin Miami.

And so. I introduce you to my beloved MJ tote which I just purchased off of ebay. It's not too big, not too small, and is the perfect shade of gray. Hooray for shmexy bags!

Yeaaaaaaaah... so... I got a Twitter. Lol, I figured I might as well get one since I have tons of random thoughts throughout the day, and it would get kind of annoying for my FB friends if i kept coming up in their news feeds because I kept changing my status. I have to say... so far so good. Still haven't started tagging subjects because I really don't feel like logging into that hashtags websites and getting caught up in THAT, too. I mean, enough is enough, haha. I have a facebook, a blog, and a twitter.

In other news, I, for the first time EVER, have official Spring Break plans. I'm going to Miami! Bienvenido a Miami... (That Will Smith song has been stuck in my head since I bought my ticket on Sunday, lol!) Not going til March 9th but I'm SOOOOOooooo ready! Ok, so I'm not completely ready ready, but my mind is. Can't pack just yet, so I've resolved to make a list of things I want/need to buy for the trip. See below. I have pics for the starred items :D

-Sunblock

-Bikini (preferably Vicky's Secret)

-Carry-on tote

-Beach towel

-Bikini Cover-up*

Happy New Year!

Oh wow... *brushes dust off of keyboard* It's been over a month. I've kind've been avoiding my laptop ever since I got my Ipod Touch for Christmas; I love being able to get on Facebook away from home! Next stop: Twitter?!?! I dunno... my friends are tryna convince me to get one and I just might...!

Anyway, life's been pretty good, can't complain. I've been working hard since the holiday season brought in beaucoup customers; i'm glad things are slowing down a bit though I still work like, every day. As far as shopping goes... I've been... trying, and failing (lol) to quit. I HAD to hit up the semi-annual Vicky's sale (in-store and online, lol), and I also bought a pair of jeweled glovelets (from Free People's website, not to mention music, a pair of jeggings, a New Year's outfit (we were staying at the Gaylord Natonal Hotel; had to look flyy), etc.... yikes. Yesterday I bought a plaid tunic for work @ A&F, as well as this adorable military-inspired cropped cardigan that they *gasp* only had one of in my store! How lucky is that? It happened to be a customer return (we don't even sell it at our store because it's kinda small compared to other Abercrombie & Fitches), but it was still new with tags attached so I considerd it to be fate and bought it! It's the one pictured... I'm wearing it now as I type, lol.
